The Connor Family
Paul Connor Overall Fleet Perpetual Trophy ~ PHRF Overall
The Paul Connor Perpetual trophy is given to the best overall in fleet (PHRF) for the Donzo Wednesday Night Racing Series
Paul attended Pine Point School for seventh and eighth grades, Suffield Academy for high school, and was a graduate of Colorado College.
He married the love of his life Carol Maxwell July 6, 1968. They met at Ram Island Yacht Club, and for 54 years shared an amazing life and wonderful marriage full of sailing, racing, cruising, skiing, family holidays, travel and adventures to see lighthouses far and wide.
Paul loved everything about boats, sailing, cruising and racing. Together with Carol and their friends and family, he cruised thousands of miles and competed in more races than can be counted. He won the last race he sailed, just months before he passed away.
Paul was a committed member and active volunteer at many yacht clubs and served as commodore at Ram Island Yacht Club and Mystic River Mudheads, and rear commodore of the CCA (Cruising Club of America) Essex station.
Paul passed away in 2022. We all miss him.

Don ‘Donzo’ Wilkinson Trophy
(Donated by the Bergendahl Family)
The Donzo award is given by the Wilkinson family to an individual who has gone above and beyond for the Mudheads and to the sailing community at large.
Donzo had a passion for sailing and boatbuilding. He started by building a Blue Jay with his father and working at Formula Yachts building Evelyn boats. He supervised the construction of Fujimo in Australia, and the rebuilding of Prophet with his family and friends in their backyard. He was a perfectionist and master at finding new ways to improve boat speed.
He had a larger-than-life personality with an infectious laugh and always a twinkle in his eye. He couldn’t get enough of sailing and loved nothing better than messing around in boats. He was a member of Ram Island Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club, Baldwin Yacht Club, Off Soundings Club, a founder and two time Commodore of the Mystic River Mudhead Sailing Association. He enjoyed life as a licensed yacht captain racing at regattas throughout the world. The Mudhead Wednesday Night Racing series is named in his honor.
He raced with incredible friends in the Miami-Nassau, Admiral’s Cup, Fastnet, Big Boat series on San Francisco Bay, Newport to Bermuda, Block Island and Key West Race Weeks, Antiqua, Off Soundings, and the Fifty foot World Cup in Japan, among others. He enjoyed summer cruises with his family to Block Island, Newport, Cuttyhunk and the Vineyard. He loved vacationing off George Town, Exuma, Bahamas and quiet nights aboard Sirena on the mooring at Fishers Island. Other memorable events included New York YC cruises, delivering the yacht Shadow from Florida to Hawaii through the Panama Canal and trips through the Erie Barge Canal aboard Fujimo.
Donzo passed away doing what he loved in September 2023. We miss him immensely.
