Looking for help delivering my boat from East Greenwich to Westerly & looking for crew and for people that need a skipper for racing or cruising

I am an ASA certified sailing instructor and 40 year sailor originally from Minnesota.

I own a Freedom 21 sailboat and it will be on a slip in Westerly soon! I’ve owned it for 8 years, sailing on Narragansett Bay.

I’m looking for crew and for people that need a skipper for racing or cruising, or want to crew for me!

Also, I need crew to sail my boat from EG to Westerly!

I “was” a professional clown on grad school, in Minneapolis, my hometown…and would love to face paint for your events if you need help 😉

Block Island Community Sailing

Position Available: Sailing Instructor, Summer 2022

Block Island Community Sailing is a US Sailing Accredited Keelboat Sailing School offering a comprehensive program of sailing lessons, recreational sailing, and sail racing for adults and their families in larger keelboats in one of the most beautiful recreational harbors in New England.

This program prides itself on making sailing a fun and rewarding learning experience using a skill-based teaching system which tracks each students sailing proficiency skill level and focuses on teaching the remaining sailing knowledge and boat handling skills needed to complete each course.

BICS provides numerous opportunities to our sailing staff for professional advancement including crew positions on larger sailing yachts during sail racing events on and off Block Island, financial support for attending US Sailing “safety at sea”, and sailing instructor upgrades such as Keelboat Instructor, Cruising Instructor, and Coastal Navigation Instructor, and for US Sailing Certified Race Official certification. BICS will also sign off on the logged hours each sailing staff member spends on the water which will accrue towards meeting the requirements for obtaining their USCG “6 Pack” and “Captain’s License”.

Previous experience teaching club sailing and US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification preferred.

Looking to get involved in some racing

I’m a sailor and sailmaker relocated to Westfield MA from the Caribbean. Have lots of race experience mostly in Caribbean regattas and ran my own sail loft for 22 years. Can do just about all positions on the boat but may be a little slow for the bow now. Mark Loe. Email: mark@evolutionsails.com Phone/WhatsApp 413 388 2471.

Looking to crew.

I grew up racing Flying Scots, 420s, and Lasers in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. I went to George Washington university where I was on the sailing team all 4 years. During summers off I would race Flying Scots, j70s, and j22s heavily at all positions, mainly skipper for Flying Scots and j70, and bow for j22. I also have some experience and bow and pit on larger keelboats.

Sailing teams are looking for crew?

I am curious if any of the sailing teams are looking for crew members for the Wednesday night race series?   I would love to help any team looking for any sort of help.

In my youth I sailed a small dinghy and windsurfed throughout my summers … also running all sorts of boats.  Over the past two years we have been fishing on the Fishers Island Sound each weekend with our 22-foot boat.  I have some knowledge of nautical rules/terms.

All this is to say, I am comfortable on boats and generally understand their workings.  Although when it comes to sailing, I would still consider myself a beginner.   I am excited to get on a boat and learn about sailing.

Please let me know if I could help.

My parents have reached an age where – due to health issues – they can no longer sail. I am looking to see if I can identify individuals or families looking to split the costs associated with keeping our cruising-oriented boat in Mystic, CT. My goal is to take a few trips back east each season (including a vacation period), but otherwise let others use the boat when I’m not east.

Regarding type of boat, it’s a 1986 Tartan 37 (Hull 470). It was one of the last few of that model made, and has been a great boat. My parents keep it at Safe Harbor Mystic (https://shmarinas.com/locations/safe-harbor-mystic/).

For a person or family looking to share costs, they’d get use of a nice sloop in a great location. And we’d get the annual operating costs down so that we can sail in Block Island Sound, Vineyard Sound, etc. for years to come.

Here are the ideal qualifications for a sailing partner or partners:

— Excellent working knowledge of the rocks / reefs / tides of Fisher’s Island Sound.
— Solid sailing skills— Ability to navigate prudently, use radar in fog, etc.
— Willing to work with us to formulate an annual maintenance plan to keep the boat in good working order.

If you can think of anyone who might be interested, I’d love introductions. Jay’s mobile number is 408-242-8539.

Red Boat on the Right

For Sale:

1985 Evelyn 25 prototype Mudslide, new trailer, lots of good sails. Best offer. 860.859.3408

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a crew to race with. I grew up sailing and racing in programs from Optis to Lasers and 420s. Recently most of my racing had been doing jib on a Melges 24 and forward on a lightning on the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey. Please let me know if you are still looking for crew. You can call me at 732-773-7838 or email me at alehnes12@gmail.com

I’m an experienced sailor and racer whose job recently changed so I’m changing racing locations. I’ll be keeping my own boat in Noank, so am looking for a regular crew spot nearby. I’ve raced Lasers to 50 footers and while I’m no pro, I shouldn’t slow you down, either. Reasonably smart, experienced at all positions, I know where the beer store is, and I show up when I say I will…
